American women take career breaks

Aurora Pin's founder: a hair clip specialist's story

Hello to all our valued customers in the United States! I'm Rachel Lee, the CEO of Aurora Pin, and I'm thrilled to connect with you through this blog post. Even though we're physically distant, I feel incredibly grateful for the chance to share a bit about myself with you today. Currently based in South Korea, I've been running my online business for three years now. As a mother of a high schooler, I understand the joys and challenges of balancing family and work.

After getting married, I dedicated over a decade to being a full-time homemaker and experienced a career break. That's why I truly appreciate the opportunity to work again. While I haven't had the chance to visit the United States yet, I recently had a wonderful conversation with one of our customers who purchased our hair clips. It made me realize that many women in the U.S. face similar situations to mine.

This customer, who happened to be a school teacher, shared the challenges of juggling work and household chores. I could relate to her experiences, as I also work from home. When I finish my business tasks, I immediately jump into household responsibilities like preparing dinner, doing laundry, grocery shopping, and cleaning. Despite the distance between us, I felt an instant connection with this customer, and we exchanged messages for quite some time.

My heartfelt wish is for every woman who wears our hair clips to feel confident and empowered in their own unique roles. As for my son, I'm teaching him the importance of helping with household chores whenever he has free time. I strongly believe that regardless of gender, everyone should share in the responsibility of maintaining a home. However, in Korea, the influence of Confucianism still prevails, resulting in a disproportionate burden on women for housework. I wonder if it's similar in the United States?

If you ever feel tired or stressed, I encourage you to treat yourself to a refreshing iced coffee or a small gift, and find joy in the little moments of your daily life. It's essential to take care of ourselves along the journey.

I must admit, it feels a bit vulnerable sharing my story so openly, but I'm genuinely happy to connect with you like a friend of the same age and gender. I'm excited about sharing more of my business journey and personal experiences with you in the future. Until then, take care, and I'll see you next time!

Warm regards,

Rachel Lee
